Expertise:
Molecular endocrinology, molecular and cellular physiology, muscle development, mitochondrial endocrinology. Particularly experienced in molecular basis of thyroid hormone action through nuclear receptors, and mitochondrial receptors discovered by our team. The influence of the direct T3 mitochondrial pathway on cell differentiation, apoptosis and oncogenesis is under study. More recently, we have developed a programme concerning the influence of hypercaloric diets on mitochondrial activity, and its relevance in pathologies such as metabolic syndrome and diabetes.
Relevant projects and functions:
Dr. G. Cabello was Director of the Cell Differentiation and Growth department of INRA from 1991 untill 2006.
Member of the board of the French national network 'Meetochondrie'.
Leader of a national programme granted by the French agency ANR concerning metabolic syndrome and mitochondria.
Group structure:
2 Senior scientists, 7 scientists, 3 post-docs, 3 technical assistants.
