Expertise:
Cardioprotection by ischemic and pharmacological pre- and postconditioning mitochondria as targets of cardioprotection; smoking induced endothelial dysfunction and mechanisms of early pulmonary hypertension in COPD; bioactive foods and nutraceuticals in carcinogenesis and metabolic syndrome; sleep apnea from cardiovascular risk factor to brain preconditioning.

• General Secretary of Romanian Society of Pathophysiology
• Coordinator of 2 national projects focused on the role of mitochondria in cardioprotection against experimental ischemia/reperfusion injury
• Participant in 3 national ongoing projects focused on the role of bioactive foods and nutraceuticals in patients with cancer and metabolic syndrome.
• PI of individual grants from the NATO-CNR (Consiglio Nationale delle Ricerche) Roma, Italy Senior Outreach Fellowship in Life Sciences for Eastern Europe (2004) and Hospices Civils de Lyon, France (2002-2003)
